MP BLANEY PUSHES FOR ACTION ON SENIORS HOUSING CRISIS IN BC

OTTAWA – Following a recently released report outlining the BC seniors’ housing crisis, North Island-Powell River MP, Rachel Blaney stood in the House to ask why government housing commitments are being deferred until after the next election.

Blaney:

“A new report by the BC office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives studying Poverty and Inequity among British Columbia’s seniors, offers us a daunting portrait of the situation on the ground.

The report shows that 42 per cent of BC Seniors are currently experiencing core housing needs.

With no housing funding until after the next election and report after report demonstrating a crying need for support now,

How can the Minister of Finance tell Canadian seniors that housing is not available?”
