NDP: TRUDEAU PIPELINE IS A FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP

OTTAWA - NDP leader Jagmeet Singh says that today’s announcement on the Kinder Morgan pipeline is a bad deal for Canada and demonstrates a failure of leadership.

"Giving $4.5 billion to a Texas oil company demonstrates that Prime Minister Trudeau has no vision for the future," said Singh.

Singh pointed out that the Prime Minister is spending $4.5 billion to create what Kinder Morgan said would mean fewer than 3000 jobs.

"That's almost $1.8 million per job – jobs that are short term and won’t be there for the next generation," said Singh. "Climate change leaders don’t spend $4.5 billion dollars on pipelines – we need a government with a vision that takes our future seriously."

The NDP is calling on the Prime Minister to invest in jobs that will still be there for the next generation – clean energy jobs in Alberta and in communities across the country.
