For the right to housing

Tell the Liberal government that housing is a human right!

The international community supports the right to housing. In 1976, Canada ratified the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which recognizes that right. Therefore, the Covenant nations should be working to ensure their citizens have affordable housing. And yet, Canada is still dragging its feet.

The United Nations recently expressed its concern about the housing crisis in Canada. Recognized by the UN as a fundamental right, access to housing is taken seriously by all G8 countries. Canada needs to act now.

That is why MP Rachel Blaney (North Island-Powell River) introduced Bill C-325, An Act to amend the Canadian Bill of Rights (right to housing) which would add the right to housing to the Canadian Bill of Rights to ensure that everyone can live with dignity and security in a home of their own.
