North Island-Powell River MP Rachel Blaney's private Member’s motion (M-53) calls for the House of Commons to adopt a set of principles to ensure that pandemic recovery spending and programs prioritize sustainable initiatives with equitable local benefits for rural and remote communities.
The motion was developed with feedback from stakeholders in her riding about the need for the federal government to support local efforts, especially in rural and remote communities, to make the changes required to reduce our impact on climate change and be resilient and successful in the face of climate and economic changes to come.
