Residents encouraged to nominate fellow citizens for King Charles III Coronation medal

POWELL RIVER – To commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, 20 North Island - Powell River residents will be recognized for their community service with a King Charles III Coronation medal. Rachel Blaney (NDP MP North Island - Powell River) has been selected to be a partner in this program and will give out the medals. Members of the riding are encouraged to nominate people they feel should be recognized for their community service by September 1, 2024.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal Program recognizes Canadians who exemplify service to others, protection of the environment, youth empowerment, and diversity. Across Canada, 30,000 medals will be handed out to deserving individuals.

“Throughout this riding we have some of the most amazing people doing absolutely tremendous work,” Blaney says. “It’s important we have the opportunity to honour the work they do to make this region such a fantastic place to live and to improve the lives of those around them.”

Nominees can serve in a variety of areas, including as advocates for seniors, Veterans, the environment and rural economic development. Special consideration will be given to those who are educators, healthcare providers, or community workers.

Eligible nominees must:

A. Have made a significant contribution to the country, a province, territory, region or community, or made an outstanding achievement abroad, or made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada; and

B. Been alive on May 6, 2023, the date of His Majesty’s Coronation. Nominations can be made posthumously, as long as the nominee was alive on that date.

Nominations will be accepted until September 1, 2024. During the nomination period, constituents can submit the names of people they feel are deserving of this award to Rachel Blaney’s office at either at Rachel.Blaney@parl.gc.ca or by filling in a form at:
